The big thing about this new game idea is the large number of units that I’ll need to come up with and animate and spec out. I have good ideas that are within reason and aren’t time-consuming.
I did some more renditions of Zegg to try to find a good balance of head-to-body. I’m still not getting the quite right vibe off of him but, like with Voyager, I have no idea what the “right vibe” looks like.
Joker is a gambling/card-based character. His attacks deal random damage or random effects; he’s also the first one I’ve developed with traits. It becomes less and less likely for a specific damage/effect to occur the more often it happens in a row and he either doubles or destroys all loot that’s found. He’s high-risk, high-reward.
Wulfred is the first tank. He’s slow, but draws aggro easily. Wulfred’s based on a St. Bernard, a Tibetan monk, and the fictional concept of these dogs carrying barrels of brandy about on their collars.
Merr Cristo, er’ybody!
Here’s the cards I drew for Christmas. There’s Lucifer from the webcomic, Paranatural, which is absolutely amazing; there’s my character, Bravo, dressed like my trainer in Pokémon Ultra Moon; here’s an aggressive pine tree with a present; and a Raichu, the best Pokémon.
Opening up a new sketchbook with sketches of Bravo and Stark. I didn’t quite get the feeling of “stretching” in the sketch of Stark though.
A rough Bumbleby sketch. Maybe I’ll fix this up and finish it… but probably not.
Between: the majority of Yang’s character arc taking place off-screen; Sienna Khan being killed without a fight in her first appearance after four volumes of build-up; Blake’s Volume 4 arc being ruined because some useless idiot stalked, tormented, and constantly pressured her to take revenge instead of reconciling with her family and recovering; and then having Blake apologize for not being grateful for this harassment?
A show that I had been enjoying… has severely effected my anxiety and depression. I’m barely eating, sleeping is less restful than ever, and I’ve just lost all motivation to… do anything, really. I’m just… so tired.
I’ve also been redesigning the Samurai-based environment suit for the idea that I’ve had. This is just working out how all the pieces would fit together and how best it would function. I don’t know; it doesn’t look great and, not only were many of the sketches done in pen, I don’t even have an eraser to fix mistakes in the pencil sketches either.
I’ve been feeling pretty lethargic and unmotivated lately, but I have been working on redesigning the Nagamaki/bow weapon that I had been thinking about so that it’s actually kind of functional? Instead of whatever weird nonsense I came up with initially.
I had tried to give it a dragon-head ornamentation that the bow would fire through, but I wasn’t able to get it looking how I wanted it to without the weapon being ludicrously broad. So I gave up, like I do.
Let’s compile some of the messy notes in the images:
- The blade slides in and out of the weapon casing on some manner of continuous chain or tank tread-like thing.
- A shallow channel along the length of the blade keeps the blade aligned and from sliding out of the casing completely.
- The blade can extend out of either side of the casing.
- The blade is about 12 separate blade pieces which are connected by numerous steel cords to maintain structural integrity.
- While in bow form, half of the blade protrudes from either side with all 6 pieces separated slightly to provide the give of a standard bow body/shaft/whatever.
- Part of the casing on both sides can slide out slightly to allow the bowstring to be drawn.
- The bowstring is made out of the same steel cord as the core of the blade; the “arrow” is formed of, like, electricity or sunlight or whatever.
- I’ll need to do some modifications on the casing to allow for firing the arrow. Probably some sort of focusing lens, since the concept this weapon belongs to is heavily solarpunk.
Oh, up in that first image is a rough, cludgy sketch of the weapon that I drew inspiration from while redesigning the Nagamaki/bow: La Guillotine/Le Sursis from Monster Hunter Generations. I still need to break my Hunter Rank with that final Nakarkos hunt…
So here’s another card I drew: a Birthday-wishing Lucina. The pose and face are terrible and I hate it like like everything else I do.
(She’s so very blue…)
I draw cards for holidays and other assorted celebrations, because I am cheap. I’m not super keen on the coloring there, but whatever. This was done three months ago and I have probably ADHD.
I should play more Splatoon some time. I haven’t in a while.
There is a bit of flashing in here from how often I move around the canvas, so watch out for that.
I like bees so I doodled a bee Pokémon whose evolutions are based on its nature. I didn’t feel like designing a different evolution for each and every nature, so I packaged similar natures under the same evolution.
And I wasn’t too keen on that last one I threw together and I haven’t designed the Queen evolutions yet, which evolve from females holding the King’s Rock or, like, Royal Jelly or something.
Should it take about three hours to upload a 10 minute video like this? It feels weird…
Just a bit of design work on the character from my Dark Souls playthrough; just giving her some more variance than the game could provide by itself. But then I got hung up on drawing that bloody sword at an angle, so I made plans to model it in Blender and then got distracted by other art because I’m terrible.
