Kabuki Kitsune – Revisit

A digital remastering of two traditional drawings featuring my original character, Murakami Momoko, a kitsune samurai, performing a kabuki pose. She is holding her peach blossom-themed spear vertically next to her and is wearing samurai armor with a blue top and a red bottom. She has a fox head and legs, furry hands, and three long tails curling behind her. She is standing on one leg with one hand outstretched. Across from her is a landscape scene with a stylized sakura tree and a rock. Grassy ground beneath both the landscape and Momoko is connected with a thin, looping strip of color. I revisited this piece to render shading on it.

If this tickles your fancy, I have put her up on Redbubble here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/sada-tainment/works/103187263-kabuki-kitsune-by-the-sakura

WIP: Shinto Shrine with Shih Tzus

A work in progress illustration done in pen and pencil, scanned in using the CamScanner phone app; a shinto shrine courtyard with two Japanese-style buildings on the left, a large sakura tree in the center with a torii gate set before it, and a large Japanese-style gate on the right with a komainu statue visible beyond it. A dense forest with green-leaved trees can be seen beyond the wall in the back. Two anthropomorphized Shih Tzu dogs are walking up the path leading from the gate to the buildings, playing with a ring. A third Shih Tzu stands before the building, waiting for them.

There’s a number of things I’d change to shore this piece up: the composition itself is a little weak and some positions need tweaking, the gate’s roof flummoxed me wholly, and it’s missing elements that I either forgot about or passed on, considering the scale I was working with and my shaky hands.

I have a Ko-fi:: https://ko-fi.com/sadayoshientertainment :: and a Redbubble for if you want my non-fanart on your stuff:: https://redbubble.com/people/sada-tainment
This isn’t on my Redbubble yet, because I still need to finish it, but there’s other things.

Kabuki Kitsune

A digital remastering of two traditional drawings featuring my original character, Murakami Momoko, a kitsune samurai, performing a kabuki pose. She is holding her peach blossom-themed spear vertically next to her and is wearing samurai armor with a blue top and a red bottom. She has a fox head and legs, furry hands, and three long tails curling behind her. She is standing on one leg with one hand outstretched. Across from her is a landscape scene with a stylized sakura tree and a rock. Grassy ground beneath both the landscape and Momoko is connected with a thin, looping strip of color.

I’ve pretty much finished with this, methinks. All that’d be left would be shading, but shading is hard and I am tired and I have been looking at this for a long time.

I’ve added this piece to my Redbubble – https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/103187263, if you’d like her to be on your stuff and things. Or you can take a look at my Ko-fi – https://ko-fi.com/sadayoshientertainment, if you wish.

WIP: Kabuki Kitsune

A drawing in traditional media of my original character, a Kitsune Samurai named Murakami Momoko; she is partially transformed into her fox form, with fox legs, furred hands, and a fox head. She is performing a Kabuki theater pose with her peach blossom-themed spear and wearing blue, black, and red armor.

A WIP of sorts, being that it was done with traditional media and therefore lacks stabilization for my congenital hand tremors.

Man-Moose On The Loose

Once upon a time, I was watching a video of a moose and her calves walking down a road and realized: Hey! That freaks me out a little bit! Too big. Too spindly. Too much leg. Whereupon this strange idea was produced and slowly, ponderously worked on.

Inspired by the bus scene from My Neighbor Totoro, here’s an anthropomorphized moose waiting at a bus stop. For this character design, I wanted to emulate the unnerving nature of a moose with this horrifying woodcutter. Instead of actually giving him antlers, I gave him a moose-themed umbrella as a further reference to Totoro.

Tales of Momoko: Peach-fox

peach-fox.jpg

Here’s some more art of Momoko, my kitsune Samurai, cutting a peach with a spear. I did this in traditional media with pen and colored pencil. I did forget her gotdang fox tails, but that’s something easy to fix when I clean this digitally.
